Squarespace website refresh for Melbourne ceramic artist
Vipoo Srivilasa
Visual Brand implementation, layout refresh.
Overview
Vipoo Srivilasa is a Thai-Australian ceramic artist based in Melbourne, known for sculptural work that explores queerness, spirituality and migration through a style that's accessible, positive and beautiful. His Squarespace site had solid foundations, but didn’t reflect the scale his practice had reached. We ran a sitewide refresh: clarifying his three core service areas, giving Public Art its own top-level home, and carrying his brand identity (colour system, typography, icons, tone) through the whole site while keeping the gallery-calibre restraint that galleries, curators and collectors expect.
-
He enjoyed working on his website but had reached the point where he didn’t know how to take it to the next level without professional support.
-
Strengthen his international profile: Present exhibitions, public art and community projects clearly enough to support bigger opportunities with museums and public commissioners.
Fix the structure: Make it obvious what Vipoo does and where to find it, without relying on visitors to dig.
Bring the brand to life: Carry his logo, colours and playful iconography through the site while keeping it professional enough for galleries, curators and collectors.
-
Vipoo was genuinely worried that bringing his brand identity, the bold colours, the flower and peace sign motifs, into the site would tip it into looking like a children's fashion brand rather than a serious contemporary art practice.
We reassured Vipoo that his website could support his artwork and strengthen his brand while sitting within a gallery style presentation. We reassured him that the brand identity would not compete with the art itself.
-
"All the little details you add to the site make it much more interesting and fun, but not a children's site. The new colour combination looks great too, a lot less formal and office like."
The site now looks like the practice it's representing: a mature, internationally recognised joyful body of work.

Giving Public Art its own place
We built a dedicated Public Art page and moved it into the top-level navigation, matching the weight it now has in Vipoo's practice. Featured works like Lion Dance now get the same considered presentation as his gallery exhibitions.Leading with the best work first
Every portfolio page, Exhibitions, Public Art and Projects, now opens with a featured work before the full grid. Instead of asking a curator or collector to scroll through years of output to find what matters most, the page does the pointing for them. It's a small structural change that makes a big difference to how someone unfamiliar with his practice reads it in the first ten seconds.Bringing the brand in without losing the gallery
We set firm rules for how the identity could be used: Cobalt Oxide for structure and headings, Electric Blue as one restrained accent per page, Yellow Gold only where something is genuinely interactive, like buttons and category tags. Flower and hand icons appear as single settle or spin animations on scroll, never looping, so they read as moments of delight rather than decoration that competes with the work.Clarifying the homepage
We restructured the homepage so Vipoo's three core areas, Exhibitions, Public Art and Community Projects, are immediately findable, alongside current and upcoming exhibition listings and a clean, swipeable feed of recent news.
