Biju Interiors
About Biju
Julia Monaghan and Bill Tanwan launched Biju Interiors last year. Inside six months they were fully booked, working across new builds, renovations and full home decoration for clients in Brisbane and beyond, all through word of mouth.
The Challenge Biju Faced
They'd put together their own website in Canva to get the business moving. It was clear they'd outgrown it, and when their accountant told them it was time to spend some money, they jumped at the chance to invest in a website that actually matched where the business was at.
-
Generate new leads: Move Biju off word of mouth alone and into a position where Google searches could actually find them.
Establish brand authority: Build a site that matched the standard of the projects Julia and Bill were already producing, ahead of a Home Beautiful cover feature landing imminently.
Increase brand awareness: Give the growing portfolio somewhere proper to live, with more completed projects due to be photographed through the year.
-
Biju had outgrown a site built to get the business moving, not to grow it. As the project list got stronger, they needed somewhere that could actually keep up with new work and show it properly.
-
Squarespace gave Biju a site that's indexable by Google, with room for a proper project showcase, built in galleries and contact form. Furthermore, it’s easy for Biju to keep adding projects as they are photographed.
-
Julia and Bill were inspired by two Feel Good Creative projects, Logan Brae Collection and Belinda Dorman Photography. Being local to their home city of Brisbane made the decision an easy one!

Bringing in the right brand partner
Biju's interior style is distinctive, old world and premium, but the existing brand didn't say that yet. Building the website straight onto the DIY brand would have meant working within its limits, and the finished site risked falling short of the premium, editorial sites Julia and Bill had been drawn to. We put Julia and Bill in touch with Design Salad to refine the brand before we started on the site, so the brand, website and all future business touch points would communicate the same message.
Leading with the press win
A Home Beautiful feature was landing the same month as launch. We showcased the cover feature prominently on the home and portfolio pages, giving visitors instant third-party proof of quality.Building the portfolio The portfolio has two completed projects live at launch. To make it clear Biju is in demand and has more work on the go, we included branded placeholders for projects still in progress. These sit at intentionally lower contrast than the completed projects, so they don't pull attention away from the finished work visitors should be clicking through to explore.
Subtle animations:
To keep the site feeling engaging rather than static, we layered in subtle hover effects and scroll animations throughout.
Pop out menu:
First spotted on one of Julia's inspo sites, the pop out menu gave us another chance to have some fun with the new flower brandmark and showcase a striking project photo at the same time.
