Therapist Website for Relationship-Focused Practice
Heart Sense PSYCHOLOGY
Overview
Heart Sense Psychology is the solo practice of Brisbane-based psychologist Sonja Mah, who specialises in helping individuals understand and improve their relationships. After years of accepting general referrals, Sonja was ready to rebrand, refine her niche, and create a website that aligned with the next chapter of her practice.
The Challenge Sonja Faced
Before taking extended leave and closing her books, Sonja had built a solid reputation through GP and word-of-mouth referrals. But her business had become draining — she was reliant on a high volume of face-to-face work, with little space to connect with the self-motivated, growth-oriented clients she most wanted to support. She was craving more clarity in her offerings and needed a website that reflected this shift — a site that would attract the right people and support a more sustainable, fulfilling way of working.
-
Sonja’s existing WordPress website no longer reflected her vision for the business. It relied on stock photography, a clunky template, and an unrefined colour palette — visually similar to the typical medical website. The site felt clinical, impersonal and forgettable.
Though she was well known locally and had a steady stream of GP referrals, the site wasn’t helping her reach the people she wanted to see more of.
-
Sonja was referred to us by her friend and fellow psychologist, Anna Peck. After seeing how Anna’s website captured her personality so beautifully, Sonja realised her own site was no longer a reflection of where her business was headed. She was craving something more considered, more memorable… something that could express her voice and vision while giving her room to grow.
-
To keep the transformation within Sonja’s budget, we recommended a visual brand refresh, professional copywriting and a one page Squarespace website. This would allow Sonja to have solid foundations and easily develop the website further with a blog and online courses later.
We grounded the strategy in clarity and warmth, ensuring that the content, layout and visuals worked together to attract growth-oriented clients. This meant:
Using clear language, ample white space, and simple navigation to create a sense of safety and flow
Custom photography so potential patients could see Sonja’s real practice and get a feel for who they’d be working with
Using supporting stock photography with a focus on connection, diversity, and shared human experiences
Embracing the new brand’s bold warm colour palette and typography while using custom backgrounds and textures sparingly to keep the layout clean and the content easy to absorb.
We set up Sonja with a custom email to look more professional in her patient communications.

The new website reflects the heart of Sonja’s practice: grounded, thoughtful, and deeply human.
It offers a strong first impression, with visuals that help clients feel at ease and informed before they even book. Key outcomes include:A complete visual transformation — from a cold, impersonal site to one that feels warm, personal, and true to Sonja’s way of working
Authentic, personality-filled imagery, captured in her real therapy space, so that clients know exactly what to expect
Headshots full of warmth and personality. There isn’t a white wall or dodgy phone photo in sight
A brand-aligned online presence, helping her shift away from generic GP referrals and toward the growth-oriented clients she’s most passionate about supporting
A site she feels proud to share and one that sets Sonja up for a more purposeful, sustainable psychology practice
