My 5 Favourite Shopify Apps 2021
For a Shopify App to make it to my list, it has to satisfy the following criteria:
Solve a problem. Otherwise, there’s no point slowing down your site with unnecessary code.
The App developer must provide top-notch support.
Look nice. Because what’s the point of designing a fabulous store only to install a heinous looking app?
Matrixify
Matrixify allows you to export your store data (products, collections, customers, and more) to excel and bulk edit. I understand that it may not be immediately apparent why you need this app. It’s perfect for large stores as you can import data without reimporting every field. With the inbuilt Shopify product importer, you need to reimport every column again (even if no changes were made), otherwise, it will be replaced with a blank field. Matrixify allows you to replace selected columns, which means if you are only editing one column of data, you can delete the rest. Now that you’ll be working on a smaller spreadsheet, the time spent and scope for human error are reduced. Further, the time and resources to upload the new file are significantly less than reimporting everything.
Australia Post MyPost Business
Automate your Shopify orders label creation with Australia Post MyPost Business and save a HUGE amount of time! There are plenty of features, however, the biggest drawcard for me is no more cutting and pasting of customer names and addresses. Eliminate human error and make sure your parcel goes where it’s meant to… though you still have to make sure you stick the correct shipping label to the correct parcel! You connect your Australia Post MyPost Account, to see your rates and have each label charged to your credit account as they are created.
Google Reviews by Reputon
This Shopify app allows you to import your Google Place or Google Merchant reviews (associated with your Google My Business account). It is very fast to set up and works like a breeze to provide all-important social proof to your online store.
Better Shipping
When you have complex shipping needs and want to start setting rules by location, product, spend threshold, multi-buys and a combination of those, this is your app. You’ll need a clear head and a cup of coffee before you sit down to set this up. In all truth, write down all your shipping scenarios and rules before you start so that you don’t get overwhelmed trying to create them on the fly. Once you get the hang of it, you’ll wonder what all the fuss was about. If you’re sick of being caught out by undercharged shipping, this is for you!
Bulk Image Edit by Hextom
Considering poorly optimised images are the number one reason for a slow site, I believe this is a highly valuable Shopify app to keep your eCommerce images as small in size and as high in quality as possible. Further, product or collection images that vary in the ratio will make your store look unprofessional. So, pick a size and stick to it! Image name and alt-text are a factor in optimising your site for SEO. This Bulk Image Edit app by Hextom will automatically rename your images and alt-text to match the product title. This is a huge time saver, especially if you are trying to fix a lot of images that already exist on your store. You can set the app to run once a day so you never have to worry about if you’ve prepared your images correctly (or feel guilty if you haven’t) again.
